Guillows fly or hanger queen

I was just curious as to how many modelers fly these Guillows kits and how many make them hanger queens?I have just started back into freeflight and am curious>Ronald

That's usually a decision you make BEFORE going out to buy a new kit. I'm obviously not going to buy a kit that offers a wide range of possiblities for static display, then build it and suddenly decide to throw it off the roof of my house. If I decide to build a kit for flying, I will build it as such. Although I may use a glider as a static display, I would never use a static display for flying.

I build all my Guillow models for flying. Recently, have built and flown the T-28, Javelin, and Fairchild 24. Working on the 900 series P-51. Plan on flying
it also. All with rubber band power.

Years ago I had tried them with .020, with SMASHING lack of success, if you catch my drift. So for now, I do them only for display, but I do have other brands for RC to build yet.

This flight shot is a 500 series Stuka. Note: this model WAS built with the kit wood. It wasn't spectacular, flew in the 10 to 20 second range, but I could get it to fly reliably. One skeptical modeler who witnessed a 19 second flight of this model was heard to remark. "Now I've seen everything. A pig can fly!"
Yes, it is in Japanese markings.

nice photo i,m gonna have to move to california... the problem is you spend hours building these then if you fly them you run the risk of breakages but they are aeroplanes so fly they must its only fair... but should you build for static then the wife will break it dusting it or the cat will knock it of the shelf so its fly for me cos it gets broken either way

That Stuka was built in 2004 and was flown for several years. I still have a three of the models that I built that year in flyable condition. The Stuka, unfortunately, was damaged beyond repair in a "hangar" accident. I did save all the plastic bits and I still have the plans (and my own laser cutter) so if I can find the time, or for some reason, likely that I simply find it humorous at the moment, make the time I will scan the plans and build a laser cut one. Of course, by that time Guillow will probably have the kit out in laser cut so I can just buy one.

The one I got too cover yet and my frist guillows kit is going to fly I hope.LOL..Now from setting around this winter it has some hanger rash on the wing an easy fix.I hope to post pix here sooner or later of it .
