Engine Sizes

Postby regular guy » Thu Apr 06, 2023 10:15 am

Have been looking at an Enya 19 engine.

What displacement is that?

Also. For a long time we thought all engines were like the Cox .049

Looks like really most of them are a 'beam' mount not a firewall mount like the .049

What are the common engine sizes?

We would like to pick up an engine to fool around with.

Have a nice day

Hi Johnny Ace

Thanks

Okay. Sounds like almost four times the displacement.

Think there are .09's and .15's too. Then 25's an 35's like Fox Stunt 35.

We really like the old control line profile planes with the beam mount engines on sideways.

Guillow's used to make profile control line planes.

We will look around for an engine to get

When I flew r/c planes,I used a .60 2 stroke engine.60"wingspan,turning a 10"prop at 10,000 rpm.

Hi Johnny Ace

Thanks again

Sounds like quite a plane.

Regarding Cox engines.

Had a little collection of them. Donated them to the San Diego Aerospace Museum in 2004

They had a kid's building class on Saturdays. It was to use for that.

Started traveling around the US then.Until 2015 or 16

So.We would like something different.Like the 'big kids' engines. Above an .049"

Have a nice day

Hi Johnny Ace

Thanks again

Took a quick look at Super Tigre's for sale in the usual place.

The prices were just a tad about our comfort level.

What do you think of a used OS Max 25 in 'excellent used' condition?

Can get a package deal with a crashed Enya 19 Fins knocked off head and hole in crankcase. Low hour engine. Looks new.

Would those give us a good all round idea about 'serious' R/C engines?

Have a nice day
