Cats have scent glands in their cheeks. The are marking it as part of their territory. :)

My cats have been a little more destructive to my model aircraft! A few weeks ago, my Peaches jumped onto my workboard and stepped all over the recently covered stabilizer of my Albatros D.Va when it was under construction, ripping up the tissue and necessitating a re-covering!

Lol, I am surprised your cats haven't tried to "fly" your Corsairs off the table top.

Just did a very short test of the Javelin across the lawn. My cat ran for cover in the bushes when it passed over her head. Better that than thinking it was a bird and clawing it out of the sky.
